About Air Manufacturing Innovation

Air MI is made up of three operations – one facility is in Washington County, Oregon, one in Beaverton, Oregon, both near Nike’s World Headquarters, and a facility near St. Louis, Missouri, with a combined workforce of about 1,500 full-time employees.

Between the three properties, Air MI employs more than 140 product creation, innovation and engineering experts, and eight PhDs, one of the highest such concentrations of advance degree professionals in the footwear and apparel industry. 

Their technical expertise has contributed significantly to Nike’s intellectual property. Air MI has more than 500 utility patent assets for the Nike Air technologies they have innovated over the 40 years since Air soles were first manufactured.
